If the upcoming Dragon Age film isn’t quite your thing, you might be a little more interested to learn that the Phoenix Wright film is looking pretty nifty.
The Gyakuten Saiban film is due for release in Japan February 11, and while other film adaptations of video games have left us sorely disappointed (Resident Evil, I’m looking at you,) it looks like this one just might be a diamond in the rough.
As the trailer shows, the film looks set to be just the right balance of drama, over dramatic pointing and crazy hair. It also seems to be based mostly (if not entirely on) the first of the Ace Attorney games, which means it’s probably going to be really, really, really good watching.
If the trailer hadn’t convinced you, though, some photos of cast members were recently released that show off some really well done costuming and casting choices. Manfred VonKarma is as terrifying as you’d expect, while Mia Fey is just as hot in real life as she should be.
While there’s no point holding your breath for a western release any time soon (although we’re sure that given the Ace Attorney fanbase, we can look forward to fan translations in the mean time,) this is a really exciting release. You can check out the entire cast gallery over at Eiga.
You’ll see no objections to this film from me. (I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.)
