SCEA has lifted the curtain on Killzone 3 by officially announcing the game via the playstation blog. Although the game was unofficially confirmed last week, new details and screenshots are always a welcome addition. The game was shown to a select few journalists in Amsterdam where they were treated to a level, set in an icy-arctic environment. If you don’t like icy environments, no problem, there will be quite a variation of environments available such as a toxic nuclear wastelands, a lethal alien jungle and even space.
One of the most talked about features has been the introduction of jet packs which according to sources works like an exaggerated jump, allowing you to soar high into the air and use the forward thrust twice before having to land.
According to Hermen, Managing Director of Guerrilla Games,
If you remember, the Jetpack Troopers were in Killzone: Liberation on PSP and we’ve always wanted to bring them back. When you include aerial combat you obviously need plenty of space so the much bigger levels in Killzone 3 have presented us with the opportunity to include this enemy.
