Hideo Kojima has been showing off his new Fox Engine again, although personally I'm still reeling from that amazing bra technology. The picture shows the developer's new avatar creation system; the guy on the left is Lionel, a programmer, and his avatar in the new Fox Engine. There's a definite likeness, from the neck up I imagine.
It'll be interesting to see how this technology is implemented in-game. Are we to expect a main character who can be made to look like us or is this technology in-house only? If the former, how will it be done quickly and easily, as to not be a hassle. If the latter, why should we get excited about this? The character looks good and very like the source but what difference is that going to make to the end user? In 2011 we're used to realistic looking faces and there's no way this will trump L.A. Noire.
