E3 2016 is going to be missing another publishing giant this year. Activision has just announced that they will not be hosting a booth on the show floor this upcoming June.
In a blog post on the official Activision community blog, communications manager Scott Lowe explains that instead of having their own space in the halls of the Los Angeles Convention Center this summer, they will instead be partnering with Sony to showcase their next Call of Duty game.
This news closely follows that of EA’s withdrawal from E3 2016, who have this year opted to take their coverage off site by offering two public events. Called “EA Play”, the first will be held next door to the LACC at Club Nokia, from June 12 through June 14, and the second (a one-day event) at The Mermaid in London. During the event attendees will be able to test out games, participate in competitions, and have access to exclusive memorabilia. Activision will still be holding their annual press conference on June 12 at 1 PM PST.
In addition to this E3 news, Lowe mentions that Activision is going to hold a community event this upcoming fall to celebrate the conclusion of the first season of the Call of Duty World League, said to “give fans special insight and access to the world of Call of Duty“. More details on that and other plans for Call of Duty related events in the coming year are promised for the future.
Not mentioned in the post is what the next Call of Duty game will be. Do you think that rumored Call of Duty: Ghosts 2 is a reality and if so, will it be in the Sony booth? Sound off in the comments below.
