The Nintendo 3DS has become the fastest selling console in Australian history. In related news: I have been forced to eat my own words.
Nintendo Australia has told Kotaku Australia that just 37 weeks after the console’s launch, the 3DS has reached over 200,000 unit sales faster than any other console released down under. This even outsells the Nintendo Wii, which sold so fast in Australia that there was actually a shortage of consoles.
Could it be that the 3DS is back on track? With the release of some big name titles (which have sold incredibly well,) such as Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D land, it seems that Nintendo is finally getting the portable’s act together.
This follows encouraging news from Japan that with the launch of Monster Hunter 3DS, the console has had it’s best week in sales ever.
Maybe 3D wasn’t doomed from the start, after all.
