Bethesda's Todd Howard has confirmed that multiple DLC offerings are on the way for Skyrim, though the developer is currently gauging fan reaction to help pin down exactly what those expansions will entail.
Speaking to Joystiq, Howard revealed that the team was looking for "ways to make the game better, not just have more, because the game is so big. So we're going through ideas right now, and processing everything people are doing in the game, and trying to think of ways that we can improve it."
As with Oblivion and the past two Fallout titles, Bethesda intends to release several packs, though there's currently no timetable or firm details on what they're planning. "They won't be quick, and they'll have a lot of meat on them," Howard says.
Really, it's probably for the best that Bethesda won't commit to the same rigorous schedule that Fallout 3's expansions employed. For now, the team's focus should be on fixing the many bugs that are plaguing the game, even if that means having to wait a bit longer for the DLC.
The interview also briefly touched on the prospect of multiplayer in the developer's future projects. While Howard isn't ruling anything out, he doesn't see Bethesda's core focus shifting away from the single-player experience anytime soon. "We don't want to lose that focus and we never want to sacrifice anything in the singleplayer game just to have it be multiplayer."
