Mega Man Legacy Collection Available For 3DS

Check out the new amiibo.

Nintendo Mega Man Legacy Amiibo

Get excited. The new Mega Man Legacy Collection is finally available today for Nintendo 3DS systems. As previously reported during the great November Nintendo news drop of 2015, the collection includes the first six Mega Man games along with a new Mega Man amiibo.

The Mega Man amiibo will allow players to unlock bonus challenges within the games. While it will come in the classic Mega Man blue colors, Nintendo also revealed back in November that there will be a gold version of the statuette available with the Collector’s Edition version of the Mega Man Legacy Collection.

The Legacy Collection includes bonus content that fans of the franchise will enjoy, like art and history piece in the game’s Museum Mode.

Lately, Nintendo has been all about re-introducing classic franchises to a younger generation of gamers. This month commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise, which has similarly been re-packaged in brand new version of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Plus, as we learned earlier this month, Nintendo has no plans to stop making new Pokémon games.

The Mega Man character first debuted in 1987, so that franchise celebrates an important milestone soon as well: its 30th anniversary is just around the corner. The Legend of Zelda also celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. It would be surprising if Nintendo didn’t have any more surprises in store beyond the Mega Man Legacy Collection, so expect more Mega Man and Zelda news in the next few days and stay tuned to Gameranx for further updates.

New retail versions of the game will also be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in North America.
