The Raft Developers Announce Console Ports Are Coming

November 14, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

This survival game hit is leaving PC exclusivity.

Raft is a colossal survival game hit on the PC platform. It’s a title that’s been around for quite a while. Initially, this title hit the PC scene in 2018 as an early-access game through Steam. However, it was only until June of this year that the development team Redbeet Interactive was able to deliver the full version to the masses. Now that the game is finally out fully for players to enjoy, the studio is working on bringing the game onto console platforms next. If you couldn’t get into this game because it was limited to PC, then know that we’ll get platform releases eventually.

The announcement came via a Steam post on Raft. The developers unveiled that plushies were coming to give players some merchandise if they enjoyed the game. However, what might be a bit more exciting is the fact that more players will have the chance to play Raft. This Steam post went on to say that the developers have moved to bring Raft onto consoles. We don’t have the fine details quite yet, so we’re not sure just what platforms in particular Raft is coming to. But the post specifically states that they are working on getting Raft onto as many platforms as possible.

However, the big focus is to ensure that the gameplay experience matches the PC platform release. So that means there is going to be a bit of a wait to endure. We’re not given any release window just yet on when Raft will hit the marketplace for consoles quite yet. But we’re sure the minute the developers feel confident in a release window, the news will be shared publicly through their social media profiles. At any rate, this is thrilling news as this survival game has proven to be incredibly popular on PC.

If this is, by chance, your first time hearing about Raft, then we can provide some context. Raft is a survival game that can be played alone or with friends. Essentially, players start the game out with just a small raft and a hook to gather junk found within the sea. It’s your goal to gather resources, build up your floating home, and stay alive from whatever obstacles the open sea happens to float your way. Again, this indie title blew up in popularity and had a slew of positive reviews from players online. While we wait for the official release date or gameplay footage strictly from a console platform, you can check out a trailer for the PC release of Raft below.
