Two new videos detailing the battle system in Final Fantasy XIII-2, sequel to last year’s Square Enix RPG, show off both basic and expert moves. The system appears to be an evolution of the pseudo-real time battle system of the first game, but it looks a whole lot more interesting.
The player performs a variety of paradigm shifts, attacks, and rotating strikes between party members. This time around, the player even appears to be accompanied by some sort of short, floating sprite with wings. It’s cute–just watch it.
The music, as always, is fantastic–and the combat is just a joy to watch. Here’s hoping that it’ll be a lot more fun to play than the first game.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is set for release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 31, 2012.
