Zelda Wii U: Big Things to Come

December 1, 2011 by Mat Growcott

Skyward Sword doesn’t even have finger prints on the disk yet and Eiji Aonuma is talking Zelda Wii U.

Skyward Sword is hardly out of its packet and the people at Nintendo Power are already trying to get a big scoop on the next console game in the series. Legend of Zelda Wii U might be four or five years away, but the teasing starts here – especially considering the positive reaction to Skyward Sword. It's far too early to be giving out actual details on a title that is unlikely to be too far past the planning phase and so, instead, Eiji Aonuma tells us that they're going to push the boundaries for the series and to expect big things.

“Skyward Sword is a title where we took aim at all the conventions of the Zelda series. While that may have been difficult, I think that confronting those challenges resulted in something that has a great deal of value. When it comes to Wii U, we’ll obviously want to add new elements that take advantage of the capabilities of the platform. I think using that as a lens through which we once again challenge the conventions of Zelda is more important than just making another Zelda game. With that in mind, please expect big things from the Zelda series to come!”
