Despite a lot of bad news for developers coming out of Australia recently, there’s some good news from 2K Games Australia – they’re working on Bioshock Infinite.
The news follows the Canberra studio, previously known as 2K Canberra, changing their name back to 2K Australia. The studio has had more name changes than The Artist Formerly Known as Prince (if that’s still his name, it’s hard to keep up,) beginning as the Australian brance of Irrational Games and working under their main office in Boston. However, just before the release of Bioshock, the studios were renamed 2K Boston and 2K Australia.
After working on Bioshock 2 and being renamed to 2K Marin, the studio is now back to their original title and are once again working with Boston’s Irrational Games on Infinite.
After a taking a lot of blows, including THQ Studio Australia and Visceral Studios closing their doors, it’s a good day for the suffering Australian games industry.
Maybe there’s hope yet.
