Microsoft has just announced its acquisition of VideoSurf Inc., an online video search engine, with plans to integrate the company's technology into the Xbox 360.
According to the statement, the little known VideoSurf was created in 2006 to allow for the quick discovery of Internet-based video content. Bloomberg, which reported the news, says that terms of the deal were not disclosed.
It remains to be seen how Microsoft plans to implement the search engine into Xbox Live, but the idea of allowing users to search for (and possibly even upload) videos with Microsoft's own built in video platform doesn't seem like an outlandish idea, given the company's refusal to partner up with Google (which owns YouTube).
