Comingsoon.net had a chance to talk with the film producer Graham King during an interview earlier today and he touched on the upcoming Tomb Raider movie when they questioned the logic of rebooting a series that wasn't received very well.
"Listen, the box office, they weren't disasters but I find it interesting that the story that we're telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece. It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it's something very different. I've not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot."
Hollywood is rebooting more film franchises than I can count (and I can count pretty high), so why not try it on Tomb Raider in an attempt for even more dollars?! Hopefully we're going to see more on the lines of how Batman was handled.
A 're-imagining' of the Tomb Raider video game franchise is also in development and is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2012.
