Skywind, The Breathtaking Skyrim Mod, Gets A February Update

February 4, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new update for Skywind is out, showcasing its improvements since December.

Skywind
is an upcoming mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that is set to add the island of Morrowind to the game, along with just about every important piece of content that was in Bethesda’s original game. The fact it was once called Project Morrowind should give you an idea as to what it is.

A new video for the mod was released today, showcasing all the progress they’ve made over the past couple of months with all the latest features. Much has been added since December, as the video itself will show.

There are new tilesets, assets, and map icons, all of which are in the mod’s February build. Gone are the Skyrim-themed icons.

Skywind will remain in development for a while yet, and isn’t expected to be completed any time soon. Given that mod has been in development at least a year before the release of Fallout 4, it’s difficult to say exactly when they plan to release it. We initially covered its development in a post dating back to April 2013.

The mod is being developed by a dedicated team of 70 modders, some of whom are working on it full time. In a previous video, they stated that they wanted to “create something that could be embraced by both by Bethesda and The Elder Scrolls community. It is a chance for fans to recreate a loved world in their design and make it their own.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the mod shapes up in the months to come. We can only hope they release it before the next Elder Scrolls game comes out.
