Ubisoft revealed that Tom Clancy’s The Division will have content exclusive to gamers who buy the Season Pass.
These will come in the form of weapon skins and outfits. There will also be special benefits per month, including exclusive item drops and events.
There are also three expansions that will be available separately or as part of the season pass:
- Expansion I: Underground
- Expansion II: Survival
- Expansion III: Last Stand
These expansions will be released throughout the year.
The flood of Season Pass exclusives start as early as March 8, when Ubisoft releases the Sawed-off Shotgun. This will be an exclusive weapon that promises powerful short range destruction.
Season Pass exclusive content did not start with Tom Clancy’s The Division. However, with the promise of item drops, and more importantly, events, Ubisoft is taking it a step further. This effectively gates those events away from gamers who don’t buy the pass, and in some cases they may not be able to even if they want to.
Perhaps Ubisoft wants to just test and see if fans will take to this method of content distribution. In which case, Ubisoft, and even other companies, could do this again in the future if it proves popular.

Tom Clancy’s The Division will be released on March 8, on Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
