Does Redfall Have Multiplayer?

September 9, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

Fight the vampire legion with some friends.

Arkane Studio has been around for years now. However, you might know them best from their Dishonored franchise, Prey, and even their latest video game release, Deathloop. Alongside Deathloop, the development team over at Arkane had another video game title in the works called Redfall. If you enjoy games like Left 4 Dead, then this might be something worth keeping on your radar.

Redfall was first unveiled to the masses during the Xbox and Bethesda E3 2021 Showcase. If you don’t recall, it was the year prior that Microsoft made the behemoth acquisition deal. Purchasing ZeniMax for over $7 billion, this deal came with an assortment of studios. Included were the likes of Bethesda and Arkane.

During the stream, we were given the unveiling of Redfall, an upcoming open-world first-person shooter. The gameplay acts similar to the likes of Left 4 Dead in the sense that players are working together in a fight against a supernatural entity. However, instead of the undead hordes we’re used to seeing, Arkane opted to feature a legion of vampires to battle with. So grab some friends and prepare for a fight as you attempt to overthrow the vampire legion and save the town of Redfall.

Does Redfall Have Multiplayer?

Redfall is often described as another Left 4 Dead kind of game, and much like that IP, this title will feature up to four-player support. So, if you wish to play cooperatively, you and your friends could join together to face off the vampire legion. With that said, you will find that the game doesn’t lock a character out, so you could all play as the same character. Likewise, each character will have its unique attributes and abilities. While we don’t have complete breakdowns of each character yet, here is a list of each playable character featured in the game below.

Layla Ellison

Layla Ellison is someone that ended up in Redfall to attend a university. Studying biomedical engineering, Layla ended up in some serious debt. Layla opted to undergo medical trials at a local tech company to clear up student debt. It was here that she suddenly found new supernatural abilities.

Devinder Crousley

Devinder Crousely, better known as Dev, is a famous author and inventor. With his expertise surrounding cryptid hunting, Dev quickly finds his years of research coming to play. While promoting his new novel at Redfall, Dev soon finds himself having to fight off a legion of vampires.

Jacob Boyer

Jacob Boyer is a former government military personnel. After a decorated career that landed him in a covert Special Forces unit, Jacob would retire from the government military only to join Bellweather. Bellweather is a private military organization that assists in different government contracts and corporation requests. The latest gig had Jacob traveling with a team to Redfall. With mission details unknown and being separated from his team, Jacob is in a fight for survival in this new supernatural threat. Somewhere along the way Jacob ends up with a psychic raven to help do his bidding.

Remi De La Rosa

Remi De La Rosa is an expert engineer and robotics specialist. With a career in the Coast Guard, Remi is no stranger to being front and center for major disasters. Using her incredible robotics skills, Remi crafted up Bribon, a drone that can assist in attacks or become a decoy. During one of her coast guard deployments, Remi ended up in Redfall, where a new disaster awaited her.

We know that players will be able to upgrade these characters’ skills throughout the game. However, it’s worth noting that you can’t jump between each character. Once you start a game with a character, you’re stuck with them until you start a new game. Additionally, it’s noted that the host of the multiplayer session will keep the game progression. Although, all the experience, and gear, players earn during the session will carry over.
