The first video of the highly anticipated Rainbow 6 game, Patriots, has finally been released and it looks like gamers are in for quite a ride from what was shown; however, as it states on the video's watermark, it is not actual gameplay. The footage shown is 'targeted gameplay,' meaning it's what they want the end result to look like.
David Sears, the creative director at Ubisoft, describes what players can expect: “Terrorism has evolved, and so has Rainbow 6. In Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, all the team play, tactics, and realism that fans of the series love have been coupled with an exciting new narrative direction,” and he continues “This adds an unprecedented level of humanity that will make Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots an extremely tense and immersive experience.”
Rainbow 6 Patriots pits players against a new and “very real threat” called the “True Patriots” which are “a highly-trained, well-organized revolutionary group that claim the American government is irrevocably corrupted by greedy politicians and corporate special interests.” Players will also be plunged into critical scenarios that will require them to make major ethical decisions in order to stop the growing threat of these neo-terrorists.
I haven't played a Rainbow 6 game in quite some time but the targeted footage shown above looked pretty fun; I might just have to check it out, though we still have to wait until 2013.
