The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim truly is the game that just keeps on giving. The latest remaster of the iconic and now eleven-year-old adventure RPG has reportedly been rated in Europe for the Nintendo Switch. This comes after the game was previously rated in Taiwan back in May, according to VGC.
With Skyrim now rated by PEGI, who rate and classify video games across 38 European countries, it looks as though the Anniversary Edition of the beloved game will make an appearance on the Switch at last. Gamers on Nintendo’s console missed out on the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim when it was released in November last year. To mark the legendary game’s 10th anniversary, Bethesda dropped the special Anniversary Edition of the game for Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. However, there wasn’t a port of the edition for Nintendo Switch owners, who instead have had to content themselves with the original version of the base game.
Now though, it looks as though Switch players may be able to get their hands on the latest remaster of the often-remastered title. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition comes packed to the brim with additional content that boosts the overall experience. It includes the base game plus all three DLC expansions; Dawnguard, Dragonborn, and Hearthfire. It also packs in a hefty amount of Creation Club mod content for players to enjoy and adapt their gameplay with. By hefty, we’re talking over 500 different pieces of additional content.
For those who enjoy chilling out in between dragon-slaying adventures, fishing is also included in the Anniversary Edition. Throw into the mix a boatload of additional items, quests, weapons, and spells, and the upgrade certainly sounds worth it for those Switch gamers who haven’t yet had the chance to play through it.
It appears that we’ll hear some official news about this pretty soon, as the PEGI classification has been listed with a release date of August 31, which was a couple of days ago now. It’s possible that this was an error though, so we’ll have to wait and see. If this is the case, it could be another sign that a Nintendo Direct is imminent, but as always, until there’s any official confirmation on that, we’ll have to see how things pan out.
There have been plenty of rumors and suggestions from industry sources of late that seem to suggest a Nintendo Direct could be happening at some point this month. Again though, there’s nothing too solid to base this idea on just yet. If one does happen to take place in the next few weeks, announcing the Anniversary Edition of Skyrim for the Nintendo Switch would be a great building block for whatever other treats Nintendo decides to throw our way.
