Skyrim is a game that a lot of people are excited about, myself included. It's hard to see screenshots like the ones below and not have the little gamer inside of you jump up and down like a cartoon character who has just won the lottery.
If Skyrim has nothing else going for it but the locales, it still has more than a lot of games have.
The Fall Forest
As beautiful as the foliage is, I think the important thing to mention has to be the level of detail given to the floor. Fallen leaves are everywhere, as are fallen trees and other bits of general forest clutter. The light falls through the trees, giving spots of shadow. Also, the depth of the forest shows off quite nicely in this screen, showing quite a nice comparison to the barren wasteland in Fallout.
The Pine Forest
Look at the colour in those flowers bottom left of the picture. Very understated and almost missable unless you look quite closely, but still lovely to see. Like the picture above, see just how deep this forest is and imagine what sorts of critters you'll find wondering around.
The Tundra
There's a nice difference between the foreground and the background in the Tundra that nicely displays the variety of locations in Skyrim. The harsh, sharp mountain range overlooking an empty wasteland.
The Frozen Tundra
A slightly different look to the picture above, the frozen tundra looks like it could be incredibly dangerous. Most notable for me in this picture is a fog around the mountain range, it exaggerates the harshness of the foreground.
