New Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Trailers Showcase Frank West, Rocket Raccoon

October 31, 2011 by Josh Harmon

Both characters are bringing unique new abilities to the game that should suit more creative players.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is casting a pretty wide net. Sure, the newly updated roster includes the sort of additions you'd expect — Hawkeye, Strider Hiryu, Ghost Rider — but then there are the quirkier choices, like pointy haired attorney at law Phoenix Wright. The two new character trailers for the game, released today, highlight a couple of these perplexing additions, Capcom's Frank West and Marvel's Rocket Raccoon.

Frank West, Dead Rising's photojournalist turned zombie hunter, won't just be bringing his franchise's wacky (and often duct taped) weaponry to the fray. He'll also be bringing his trusty camera in a new levelling system. By taking pictures during the battle, Frank will earn PP and level up, growing more powerful and gaining access to new moves over the course of the battle.

On the Marvel side, UMvC 3 will be introducing Rocket Raccoon, an anthropomorphic space raccoon with a penchant for gadgetry. Rocket's got high mobility and speed, as well as the unique ability to set traps around the stage. Sure, he might not be the most obvious choice, but if they're already digging this deep into the Marvel canon, maybe we'll get that Squirrel Girl DLC pack after all!

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 releases for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 15 in North America, November 17 in Japan, and Novmeber 18 in Europe.
