Today during Splatoon 3’s Nintendo Direct, we found out so much information on what we can expect from Splatoon 3 releasing September 9 on Nintendo Switch. We learned today that Splatfest will be returning in Splatoon 3 and on August 27 at 9 am PDT a free demo of Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere will be available for download before the release of the game. To be available to get this demo, you will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription in order to participate in the Splatfest. However, you will be able to go ahead and download the demo early on the eShop on August 18, with certain parts playable on the 25. That makes you can get in some practice before the real deal.
In Splatfest, you will be picking a side and taking on the opposing teams to try and cover as much of the stage in your ink color as possible in order to win. The more ink you cover the turf with will help you get the upper hand. The overall gameplay of this is pretty much going to be the same as Splatoon 2, except instead of two teams and two colors, there will be three teams and three colors. Amazing, right?
As you can see just from this screen, two teams will be coming from both sides meeting the middle team head-on. This will be chaotic with three teams versus two but ever so much fun.
This first Splatfest will make you pick between three teams, Rock, Paper, or Scissors.
Remember that you will be able to download this demo on August 18 and the event starts at 9 am PDT and goes on to 9 pm on August 27. You will be able to pick your team beforehand.
Splatoon 3 New Trading Card Minigame Called Tableturf Battle
Boy oh boy, there was so much to take in at Splatoon 3’s Direct, and one thing we didn’t even think we were getting was a Splatoon tabletop card minigame! This game kinda takes after Tetris in the game style. Our little Inklings and Octolings won’t just be trying to cover as much as possible of stages with ink, but also be playing a pretty neat card game in Tableturf Battle.
Tableturf Battle takes place in Splatville’s new Tableturf Battle Dojo – sounds cool, doesn’t it? It is weird looking but plays a mix of Tetris and trading cards. This looks like the next game that steamers will be addicted to for hours on end.
From what we’ve learned this will be a 1v1 battle based on the series’ Turf Wars, just without the classic ink. There are 150 cards to collect that feature the weapons you’ll be able to purchase in Splatoon 3. The aim of the game is still the same as Turf Wars, take over as much of the field in order to win.
When starting out, you will be gifted a starter deck with the rest of the cards being able to be collected in-game.
Splatoon 3 is available for pre-order on Nintendo’s eShop and will be releasing September 9.
