It looks as though Bungie may be in the process of developing a new title in the Destiny universe. A new job advertisement shared by the company confirms it is looking for a new Senior Concept Artist to work on “an exciting new title”.
The job advertisement, which was listed recently on Bungie’s own careers website also states that the prospective applicant will need to “continually push aesthetics of the Destiny universe,” suggesting that the game in question is indeed a new Destiny title. It also mentions that the role of the senior concept artist is to “explore character, weapons & environment designs, and propose visual solutions for broad world-building questions.” Of course, this isn’t particularly telling, but it does suggest that entirely new concepts will be created for the undisclosed new title.
Also of note in the advertisement is the suggested skills in the ‘nice to have’ section. Listed here is a rather interesting mention of the prospective applicant having “experience with and love of competitive games,” when it comes to their new role. This suggests that the new game may be a competitive Destiny-based title, or at the very least will contain competitive elements as part of its gameplay.
Whether this all means that Destiny will be getting a competitive version as a standalone game or perhaps another version developed purely for mobile gaming, we’ll have to wait and see. Back in March, we reported on Bungie’s new PVP IP being rumoured to be a third-person action title, so it could be that the new listing relates to that. Bungie is also currently working on Matter, which is plotted for release in 2025 and is thought to be an RPG that features dungeons and necromancy. As always, time will tell what these new games from Bungie actually materialise as, but it’s clear that they’re currently working on some pretty big things this year and beyond.
