The idea of “major returns’ has been permeating Hollywood for a while now. Just in the last year, we’ve had two key Spider-Men return for No Way Home, and Hayden Christensen returning to play Darth Vader again in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. So with those actors coming back after so long, and the upcoming return of Michael Keaton as Batman, many are wondering who might be next, and the question on some people’s minds is…could it be Christian Bale?
The reason this is asked is that he was Batman in The Dark Knight Trilogy, widely considered one of the best comic book trilogies of all time, with Dark Knight being considered one of the best comic book movies of all time. Bale has since gone on to becoming Gorr The God Butcher in the upcoming Thor Love and Thunder film, but could he don the cape and cowl again if asked?
“No, no, no. Nobody, nobody reaches out to me or they keep me like a mushroom, keep me in the dark and feed me sh-t,” Bale said in an interview. “For me, that would be a matter of Chris Nolan, if he ever decided to do it again and if he chose to come my way again, then yeah, I would consider it because that was always our pact between each other is we would just stick to it. We said we would only ever make three. And then I said to myself, and I’d only ever make it with Chris.”
That’s fair given how it was very much that “power duo” that led to the movies being such a success. Nolan himself likely won’t go back to superhero movies based on his feelings on certain matters that happened after the trilogy. But then again…you never know for sure…
