Fallout is undeniably one of the greatest role-playing games ever developed for the PC, and it’s latest iteration, Fallout 4, is now out on both PC and consoles. For gamers who never had the chance to experience the game that started it all, and for those who’d relish the idea of reliving the game in all new graphics, a group of modders has come together to remake the original Fallout in Fallout: New Vegas.
The mod is currently a work-in-progress at NexusMods, and its creators intend to deliver the original Fallout story in its entirety through the much newer game.
In Fallout, players take on the role of the Vault Dweller, who leaves Vault 13 in search of a water chip after the one in his or her vault malfunctions. Along the way, the Vault Dweller learns of what happened at the other Vaults and ventures out into the wasteland and the remnants of Southern California.
A newly released series of videos by the group of modders shows the Overseer, now voiced by a modder, instructing the Vault Dweller on their mission. The video also shows the cave exit and a little of the desert wasteland before shortly showcasing what appears to be a three-dimensional world map, recreated in tabletop form. Other videos include a visit to Shady Sands and an encounter with Radscorpions in the desert wastes.
The modders state that they intend to keep the atmosphere of Fallout while taking advantage of the new features offered by New Vegas.
