Wargaming took to the PlayStation blog earlier today to share some exciting news. World of Tanks will be holding an official open beta weekend from December 4 to December 6. You don’t have to opt-in or anything – just download the game for PS4 and dive into those 15v15 tank battles in a few weeks (it’s free-to-play, so there’s no reason not to try it out).
Project Lead TJ Warner had a great explainer of the game for those new to the series:
“What is World of Tanks?” you may be asking yourself. Well simply put, it’s the most successful tank action\MMO\shooter out there and now it’s coming to PS4. You choose from a variety of tanks from different nations (ex. USA, Germany, Russia, etc.) to get started, and then hop into battle. Every match earns you rewards to upgrade your tanks and acquire new ones. You can also use these resources to customize your tanks with supplies, equipment, camos, emblems and inscriptions.
All progress will carry over once the open beta weekend concludes. As a bonus, players who download the game will get an exclusive tank with a PlayStation skin. Anyone who helps out during the open beta will also receive a second premium tank, the M22 Locust.
Since the open beta happens the same weekend as PlayStation Experience, World of Tanks will be available to play at booth #1200. Wargaming plans to hold competitions and giveaways at the booth, so if you’re in the area you may want to stop by. It's a good season for vehicle-on-vehicle fighting.
