Great news for fans of a Viking adventure from the Xbox Games Showcase Extended today. It’s been revealed that the hit exploration and survival title Valheim will be making its way to both PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass. The game will get a launch for PC players a bit earlier than those on console, with the PC version ready to play in the autumn and the console edition coming in the spring of 2023.
Valheim has proved to be a smash hit over on Steam, where it recently revealed sales of over 10 million copies. Players are able to step into the shoes of a Viking who must craft, fight and survive their way through a Norse mythology-inspired afterlife as they strive to prove themselves worthy of admission to Valhalla. The reveal also came with a new trailer, which you can check out here if you haven’t had a chance to play the game yet.
According to Valheim’s developers Iron Gate Studio over on Twitter, the game will also feature full crossplay support when it hits Game Pass, including for Steam, where the game has already enjoyed a massively successful run since it launched in February last year.
The game will bring an engaging new world for players to explore, which those new to the adventures should enjoy discovering whilst Iron Gate is busy working on the game’s first major expansion, Mistlands. The team has been sharing some updates about the progress of the Mistlands expansion, which will add a brand new biome to the game’s existing forests, swamps, mountains, plains, and oceans.
There’s no denying that Valheim has enjoyed major success on Steam, so it’ll be exciting to see how well it’s received with players in the Xbox Game Pass ecosystem when it launches first for PC in a few months’ time.
Valheim is currently available on Steam and will be coming to PC via PC Game Pass later this year. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass for consoles in the spring of 2023.
