Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain’s Latest Patch Enables A Much Requested Reunion

November 10, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

if silence is golden, then this is the motherlode.

Did you wish you could change the story in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain? Konami has made a change that you may find welcome.

Spoilers follow below, so if you happen to not have finished this game yet but intend to, you can escape back to our frontpage to read more Fallout 4 things.

Quiet is one of the most controversial characters in The Phantom Pain, and in all of Metal Gear lore. Although long suspected to be a double agent for Skull Face, Quiet proves herself as a loyal and worthy ally to Venom Snake, going so far as to sacrifice her own life to rescue Venom.

Or so it seems. What actually happens is Quiet, who received a strain of Skull Face’s English language based virus, spoke English to direct the Diamond Dogs to Venom’s location. She disappears soon after, and it is presumed she hides in the forest to die alone.

Thanks to the latest patch, Quiet does not have to stay there anymore. If you replay Mission 11 seven times, you can get her back. What you need to do is use only non-lethal takedowns, and then, extract her back to base. If you are successful, the mission description switches from Replay to Reunion. You will get her back as a buddy, and even find her back in her cell in Mother Base.

The patch won’t bring back Paz, who expired in Ground Zeroes in a grisly, awful manner. Would Konami give gamers a way to also bring her back? It would undo much of the backstory, and Snake’s motivation, but truth be told, it’s not like Kojima was consistent about either of these things anyway.

Will you go back in the game to get Quiet back? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
