Devil’s Third Online has been officially announced for PC, with a partner that may surprise you.
Valhalla Game Studios has tapped Korean developer and publisher Nexon as their partner in bringing the game to PC. This version eschews the single player campaign Devil’s Third has on Wii U, and will be completely remade for PC. It’s possible this also means the misgivings fans had with the Wii U version will be fixed on PC. In fact, the promise of Nexon's backing means Devil’s Third Online could be a steadily developed and supported game for quite a long time. Valhalla will share more details on a Nicovideo stream this November 12, 20:00 Japan time.
Head developer Tomonobu Itagaki has been jetsetting prior to this announcement, making appearances in Russia, Thailand, and most recently, Beijing. It seems that these regions (Russia, China, and South East Asia) will be target markets, aside from Korea and the home market of Japan. Given Nexon’s limited involvement publishing games in America, it’s possible the US won’t be seeing the game immediately.
Nexon is a success story of Korean gaming, making a name for themselves with F2P games like MapleStory, Elsword, and Dragon Nest, all very old games who've continued to stay viable for years. In their home country of Korea, they publish games like Counter Strike and DOTA 2. Of course, they recently published Dirty Bomb in the West, and are involved in the development of Lawbreakers and Ghost in the Shell: First Assault – Stand Alone Complex Online.
