Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was a hit. According to the Japanese publication Nikkei, Konami has already begun discussing a sequel despite controversy over creator Hideo Kojima's status as an employee at the company. (And it's hard to go along with Konami's story, that Kojima is just on vacation, considering they took his name off MGSV's box art and canceled Silent Hills.)
To add to the controversy, rumors surfaced today that Konami closed Kojima Productions LA when Duke Nukem co-creator George Broussard posted this tweet.
BREAKING: Rumor tells me that Konami has shut down the Kojima Productions LA studio, taking with it approx 35 jobs, just before Xmas.

While the rumor is making its rounds on the internet and in various piblications, it's important to note that there is no confirmation yet on whether the LA-based studio has been shut down and Konami has not released a statement. There are no concrete details about a tentative release date for a new Metal Gear or whether Kojima would even be involved in the project in any capacity.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released on September 1 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
