It's only 37 seconds long, but boy is it a teaser. The trailer opens with a preface that the battle takes places 29 years before the events of the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens and gives us a first person perspective of the fight.
While the Battle of Jakku won't be available until December 8, players who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront will be able to get it a week ahead of everyone else. (It's worth noting, while the Battle of Jakku is free to all players, Xbox One users with an EA Access membership save 10% on all other Battlefront-related content.)
As previously reported, the Battle of Jakku is an important moment in the Star Wars canon — the New Republic confronts the Imperials. “There’s a David and Goliath theme to this,” said DICE concept artist Anton Grandert. “The epic, huge super structures of the Star Destroyers contrast against the tiny but brave Rebel soldiers fighting the Imperial forces.”
The film arrives in theaters on December 17. Star Wars Battlefront is out November 17 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game costs $60 and the DLC pass is $50. There is an Ultimate Edition that comes with the game, DLC pass, and extra content for $120.
