As we reported last week, the BattleTech Kickstarter shows no signs of slowing down. Harebrained Schemes has been motivating its fan base to spread the word about funding and it's resulted in an extremely successful campaign.
To put that into perspective, the campaign hit its initial goal of $250,000 within an hour of going live. They hit the $1 million mark within only a day of that. There are over 36,000 contributors to this campaign, and people have donated sums as large as $10,000.
The reason for their success is the campaign's Backer Missions, which motivated fans to talk about the Kickstarter on social media in exchange for exclusives from the creators.
As a reward for this crowdsourcing milestone, Harebrained Schemes have released a slew of new images and videos promoting the game, including one that demonstrates a 3D test-scene in Unity to show fans how 2D concept art translates to a live, functioning game.
The campaign ends on November 3 at 12:00pm PST, in less than 24 hours. In typical Kickstarter fashion, it’s reasonable to expect that there will be a rush of last minute donations.
The newest update video conveys the team’s enthusiasm about reaching this important goal:
