The developers behind Torment: Tides of Numenera have posted a Kickstarter update indicating that the game's release was pushed to 2016 in order to give the team more time for QA testing.
The news comes along with an update from project director Kevin Saunders, who announced his departure from inXile Entertainment and Tides. "With the major creative and production decisions now resolved, and the team charging full speed toward completing the game, inXile and I have decided it is time for me to depart from the studio," writes Saunders in his post. "I am proud of the project that I’m leaving in capable hands, and while I do not know what I’ll do next, I look forward to new challenges and opportunities.”
After announcing that he would now be managing development on Tides, Chris Keenan reassured backers that the core vision will be upheld. "However, to maintain the quality standard we've set for ourselves, we can't rush through these final stages to get it out the door," writes Keenan. "Instead, we're going to take the time we need on Torment: Tides of Numenera, which means we are planning a 2016 release."
Alpha testing just completed on Tides and inXile is gearing up to launch the beta next. The game was previously delayed in 2014.
