Tonight at 6 PM EDT Microsoft will hold the countdown event “Halo 5: Live” to celebrate the incoming release of Halo 5: Guardians. Major Nelson, Jessica Chobot, and Geoff Keighley, along with others, will host the show. The countdown will include interviews with 343 Industries developers, new gameplay footage, and appearences by celebrities like Nathan Fillion (who plays a role in the game). The show will be broadcast live on YouTube and Xbox One until 12 AM on Tuesday, October 27.
Microsoft is holding live events for fans at Microsoft Stores around the world. This includes performances by artists such as Pit Bull in New York and a friendly tournament at The Roundhouse venue in London.
Wild events have been teased as part of the show. A fan in Australia will play the game from a flying helicopter. Microsoft will also send Master Chief and Agent Locke action figures into the atmosphere to take selfies at the edge of space.
Microsoft executives have also hinted that fans may want to watch the livestream to find out about things “beyond Halo”. Xbox engineering head Mike Ybarra encouraged fans to watch the event for possible news in a tweet on Sunday:
I encourage everyone to watch Halo 5: Live. You might hear about things beyond Halo. 😉 https://t.co/SWoPO0GhXC
