The window for Nintendo’s seeming silence on their future is closing soon, as their next earnings meeting draws near.
It’s earnings season in corporate Japan.

Nintendo will be announcing their Q2 results next Wednesday, on October 28, have their compulsory meeting with investors the next day. The Wall Street Journal reports predictions from analysts that news on their first mobile game will be coming up in the next few days, either leading to or immediately after the investor’s meeting.
Not coincidentally, DeNA will be making their own earnings announcement on November 11, and may share further details on their partnership with Nintendo and their collaboration then.
As of now, we still do not know which IP Nintendo is using for their first DeNA collaboration mobile game, what kind of game it will be, or any other details. Expectations are running high, as both Nintendo and DeNA are looking to rally their stocks.
This seems like an impetus for a Nintendo Direct, but Nintendo hasn’t had one or announced when they would have one in spite of several weeks of game announcements and releases. While they have yet to reveal anything, logically speaking if Nintendo does not have a Direct for this mobile game announcement, it will be a large missed opportunity. Nintendo simply must have a Direct within the next week for this very reason.
