Star Wars Battlefront Datamining Yields Secret Hero Characters

October 8, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Secret heroes have been found in Star Wars Battlefront’s open beta files.

Players of Star Wars Battlefront have been datamining the game's files for possibly unrevealed details about the game, and they've found some interesting stuff.

Reddit users TheeUberMedic and radgamerdan have found voice files for Han Solo, Princess Leia and The Emperor within the game directories, in addition to something called Hero Hunt mode.

Anyone who's downloaded the open beta can look at the files for themselves by heading over to Program Files/Origin/Battlefront/Data/Win32 or something like that. Look for the file characters.sb and parse through it.

A file "/data/challenges/forest_chapter_25_herobattle" might refer to a new, previously unannounced (or possibly scrapped) gameplay mode called Hero Hunt.

The game's open beta launches today on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
