A dedicated Twitch viewing application is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita this fall, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear announced today at its TwitchCon keynote presentation.
Previously, only the PlayStation 4 had the ability to view Twitch streams, but it was restricted to only showing Twitch streams that were being broadcast from other PS4s. Full chat functionality will also be present in the new app.
Xbox One has had a dedicated Twitch viewing experience since 2014 and what was shown during the keynote presentation today for the PlayStation family of platforms looked very similar to what is currently available on Xbox One.
The video game streaming service also announced a slew of other changes and updates coming in the future, such as switching from Flash to HTML 5, the option to view a series of archived videos through a playlist, and, most importantly, the ability for users to upload edited videos to their Twitch channels, much like YouTube.
