RPG veteran Chris Avellone has announced as a contributor to Divinity: Original Sin 2, developer Larian Studios has today announced.
"This is the first time I think the community is responsible for bringing two developers together who might not have crossed paths, and especially for such a great project," Chris Avellone commented in a press release. "I have a lot of respect for Larian Studios, Swen (Vincke, Larian's creative director), and Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's one of the best game Kickstarters ever. I met Swen at PAX Prime, talked about RPGs for hours, and at the end, it was clear we were on the same page. Now? We're primed to do something great, and I'm proud to be part of it."
Avellone has previously world on Fallout 2, Planescape Torment, and Pillars of Eternity, among other noted projects. In June he announced his depature from Obsidian Entertainment, which he co-founded.
He'll "help bring the characters of Divinity: Original Sin 2 to life".
The RPG stormed Kickstarter when it launched on the crowdfunding site late last month, earning its $500,000 goal in less than 12 hours.
To date the game has made more than $1.65 million from over 35,000 backers, meaning it will now offer dedicated mod support.
Another noted RPG developer, CD Projekt RED, will be designing one of the game's characters.
