PlayStation 4 to Use New Wireless Technology?

September 26, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

A new wireless networking solution has been developed in Japan called “TransferJetTM”, bound to be commercialized starting Q1 2012.

The new “TransferJetTM” wireless solution is touted to have a receiving sensitivity twice as high as the current maximum of 78dBm, ensuring a much more stable connection between a receiver and another compliant device.

In addition to this, due to the implementation of proprietary RF technology and use of a 65nm process, the guys from RF have downsized the chip and surrounding circuitry even more, allowing for more miniaturization of devices.

This technology is slated to be used on notebook PCs, tablet devices, smartphones, all including compact digital equipment and cameras.

53 companies, including Sony, are now members of the new “TransferJetTM Consortium”, created in order to promote standardization of the new technology. All signs point to it, so we ask whether the new console from Sony be bundled with this new wireless technology.
