Many times, when you hear the word “remake” in video games, you either think of a light upgrade of graphics, or, a complete overhaul that makes it look and resemble like a true “modern version’ of the original game. And that brings us to the upcoming Knights Of The Old Republic Remake. Because this is easily one of the most important remakes in video game history due to how beloved the OG title was. So the team working on it HAS to do well.
Speaking to investors, Matthew Karch — founder of Saber Interactive, the parent company of Aspyr Media — teased that “Aspyr has gone full in to make this the best game they can make,” and has even picked up assistance from Saber itself. “We’ve been spending a lot of time and effort working with them to bring this title over,” added Karch.
Karch continued: “We’re fully confident that the game is going to be fantastic. But it’s a massive, massive product, and massive products require a lot of effort and a lot of time to make good. Especially when you’re talking about a game that is already old, very old- we’ve had to basically remake that game from scratch. I would say within the next several months, you’ll be hearing more from us about it.”
He also said that if everything went the right way…it could be one of the best-sellers of the year. Which he might be right if they get the fans and critics to love it.
While it might seem over the top to desire a masterpiece quality to the Knights Of The Old Republic Remake, this game really was that good last time around. And while it still holds up in many ways, RPGs have come a long way since then, and as such, the improvements could make that title even better.
