The sequel to the old-world adventure fantasy RPG GreedFall was announced yesterday by developer Spiders and publisher Nacon, in a reveal which took many gamers by surprise. In addition to the somewhat unexpected announcement of GreedFall2: The Dying World, fans have been treated to a bit of a preview of the game in the form of an announcement trailer.
In GreedFall 2: The Dying World, players will revisit the land of Teer Fradee but this time as an island native. You’ll be heading off on a new adventure three years after the events of the first game, and will be exploring the continent of Gacane, where the colonists are originally from. It sounds almost like a role reversal of the first game and sounds like it could be pretty engaging, story-wise. Check out the announcement trailer in full here for a feel of what’s to come.
GreedFall 2 is planned for release in 2024, although as of yet there’s no specific timescale for a launch. With that said, it’s clear that Spiders have been developing a sequel to 2019’s GreedFall for a little while, which sold over 2 million copies and drew a range of reviews, from high critical praise for the game’s historical fantasy setting and art style, to more mixed feedback on its combat and controls. It seems that Spiders has taken this on board for GreedFall 2, as the sequel promises to make use of “new gameplay features including more tactical combat”.
It’s clear that the teams at Nacon and Spiders are pretty busy right now, what with the development of GreedFall 2 and also being hard at work on steampunk action RPG Steelrising. Jehanne Rousseau, Founder and Director of Spiders development studio, shared more on the subject.
“While we were working on Steelrising, our love of the GreedFall universe never faded, and so we are thrilled to be returning to it. In this new chapter, players will explore the old continent with its bigger and more diverse environments. They will meet new companions and new factions, and I hope they will have unforgettable adventures.

It’s definitely an exciting time to be an RPG fan, and if you didn’t get round to playing the first GreedFall, players on Xbox and PC can jump in and try it now with Xbox Game Pass. Until there’s more information on GreedFall 2, that’s what we’ll be doing.
