Bandai Namco has revealed framerate and resolution details about their upcoming role-playing game Tales of Zestiria, which is slated for release on both the PC and PlayStation 4.
According to the developers, both versions will run at 1920×1080 (1080p), while the PC will be able to support resolutions as high as 4K.
Additionally, both PS4 and PC versions benefit from some major graphical improvements over the PS3 version, offering 2x the draw distance. The PC version even has a "far" option that extends it even further. Shadows, anti-aliasing and textures have also been given an upgrade on the PS4 and PC. The PC version will also come with toggles, allowing you to switch between low, medium, and high for each graphical setting.
The framerate of the game is locked to 30fps, which should come as something of a disappointment to the "Framerate Police" group on Steam.
The studio wishes to explain that the reason for the framerate lock is because the battle system in the Tales of system is tied to the framerate.
"Before you run off to the comment section, hear us out! The Tales of battle system has always been an integral part of the gameplay experience," they write. "And changing the framerate proved to have profound consequences on things like: animation, balance, difficulty, and overall fighting mechanics tuning. We do this in the best interest for the players’ experience!"
Fair enough. The game will be out on October 20.
