The Doctor Strange sequel is doing incredibly well at the box office so far. It’s already cross $500 million dollars earned worldwide and it’s not even officially in its second week yet. But naturally, the thing that EVERYONE is talking about are the various cameos that were shown in the film both big and small.
The biggest ones of course being the “MCU introduction” of not one, not two, but three major Marvel Comics teams via the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Inhumans (remember, the Inhumans series is non-canon…like Agents of Shield…somehow). Regardless, screenwriter Michael Waldron chatted about what it was like to bring them into the MCU proper, and what it might mean for the future…
“I can’t confirm or deny any specifics of that stuff yet,” Waldron said of the properties’ potential reboots in the MCU. “But I mean, I try not to think of it as me being the one, introducing them. We’re all doing it together. Everybody in that sequence, it’s a collaboration with [director] Sam [Raimi], of course, [and] with the actors. I’m just trying to give them a great foundation, to come in and bring this stuff to life. And geez, they all knocked it out of the park.”
Most would agree with that…to a point. We’ve already dropped some spoilers but now we’re REALLY about to drop some so…you’ve been warned.
While it was cool to see Reed Richards, Professor Xavier and Black Bolt (under a really weird name for some reason…) be in the Illuminati, they and pretty much every other member of the group were killed by the Scarlet Witch. Leaving a bitter taste in some fans mouths. After all, they wanted this for a while, then they got it…and…now it’s gone.
What’s more, the Fantastic Four movie lost its director, and we have no updates on the arrival of the X-Men, or the return of the Inhumans. So…yeah, kind of bittersweet.
