At long last, the promised interim PC update for Batman: Arkham Knight is out on the PC. The game released in a terrible state, forcing PC gamers to play at a lower framerate than what their gaming rigs are capable of. Countless other issues dogged the release, which was eventually pulled from Steam by its publisher.
The promised update brings with it a host of improvements that gamers have been looking forward to on the PC. However, the game has not yet returned to sale on Steam.
Here's what's in store:
- Optimizations for system memory and VRAM usage
- Improved performance on all GPUs (requires the latest drivers)
- More Comprehensive In-Game Settings
- Fixed low resolution texture bugs
- Fixed hitches when running on mechanical hard drives (HDD)
The patch is described as an interim update, and the developers at Rocksteady have even more improvements planned for the game, including the following:
- Adding support for SLI and Crossfire
- Adding support for the latest DLC & Season Pass content
- Adding support for additional updates such as Photo Mode
- Continued improvements and bug fixing for a Windows 7 specific memory issue that occurs on configurations with 8GB of system RAM and some NVIDIA GPUs during extended game play
- Continued improvements for Windows 10 specific issues on systems with some AMD GPUs
The beta version of the patch leaked early yesterday, with many users who managed to download it reporting vast improvements. We expect to see a similar reception to the real thing.
