In a new video for the upcoming NBA 2K16, developers from Visual Concepts sit down to talk about some of the improvements they have made in this year’s iteration on the annual basketball simulator.
The video begins with gameplay director Mike Wang presenting his task for the team at Visual Concepts.
“From day one, I presented our gameplay team with what I thought was almost an impossible task and that was to make our game look and feel way better than it ever has in the past,” Wang said.
The video is titled “The Living World” and producer/designer Scott O’Gallagher sheds some light on what that means for NBA 2K16.
“Typically in basketball games every team has kind of felt the same. You know, you get some signature moves, some players here and there, but overall all teams have felt the same,” O’Gallagher said.
“We wanted everything in the court from the way that fans react to you, the coaches, the player intelligence, everything to be part of this environment that was smart,” Wang continued.
Visual Concepts’ goal in designing the gameplay of NBA 2K16 is to, understandably and obviously, make it “the most authentic sports gaming experience that you’ve ever played” by creating gameplay that feels like the real sport of basketball. And maybe it will be – just look at how realistic the in-game tattoos are and with Spike Lee collaborating, it’s got to have something going for it, right?
NBA 2K16 will be available on Sept. 29, 2015 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation3, and PC. However, if you pre-order the game, you will have access four days early on Sept. 25.
