Nintendo Announces Mega Yarn Yoshi Amiibo

August 24, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Because three Yoshis made of yarn just isn’t enough.

A bigger version of the previously-announced Yarn Yoshi amiibo that will be released alongside Yoshi’s Wooly World for the Wii U in October has been announced.

While the previously-announced, smaller Yarn Yoshi amiibo will be released on Oct. 16 in North America, the larger Yarn Yoshi amiibo will be released on Nov. 15 and will retail for $39.99. The smaller ones will cost $16.99 each. Yoshi’s Wooly World will cost $49.99, but those who will be picking up the game can take advantage of a bundle that will include the game and a green Yarn Yoshi amiibo for $59.99. The smaller Yarn Yoshi amiibo will be available in blue, pink and green, while the larger Yarn Yoshi amiibo will only be available in green.

No matter the size, all of the Yarn Yoshi amiibo will provide the same in-game functionality in Yoshi’s Wooly World. Tapping the plush amiibo on the Wii U gamepad’s NFC reader will activate “Double Yoshi,” bringing a second Yoshi into the game. Players will also be able to save their favorite Yoshi pattern to the amiibo.

Also making amiibo news today are release dates for the Mii Fighters from Super Smash Bros., the Mewtwo amiibo, and the Falco amiibo. All three have been delayed at various times, but now have new release dates. The Mii Fighters amiibo will be available as a three-pack for $34.99 on Nov. 1. The Mewtwo amiibo will be available on Nov. 13 and the Falco amiibo will be available on Nov. 20. The Mewtwo and Falco amiibo will cost $12.99 each.

Yoshi’s Wooly World was released on Wii U on June 26, 2015 in Europe and July 16, 2015 in Japan. It will be released in North America on October 16, 2015.
