Bad Robot Productions, a.k.a. J.J. Abrams' studio, has teamed up with Escalation Studios to produce an all new gameplay mode for Valve's Team Fortress 2 called Pass Time.
It's currently in beta, but you can play it by entering the Play Multiplayer menu and selecting "Play Beta Maps."
"PASS Time marks Bad Robot's first foray into rapidly iterative content, and they're really excited to get feedback on their beta so they can work with the TF community to evolve the game," says the offiical TF2 blog. "This is a new way of doing things for them, and they're looking forward to working with you to see how it grows over time."
The new mode is inspired by American Football… with guns. As you can imagine, each team's objective is to pick up a ball located at the center of the map and hit it into the glowing target located deep in enemy territory.
When you're carrying the ball, you can't use your weapons. However, you'll get a brief speed boost and also see where the rest of your teammates and enemies are on the map, allowing you to better move around and coordinate with your team. As with football, you can pass the ball to other teammates.
Tl;dr: The production company responsible for the next Star Wars film is working with Valve to develop a new mode for Team Fortress 2. Neat.
