If you were planning to celebrate this Halloween with some leather-clad ass-kicking on your PC, you’re out of luck. Warner Bros. Interactive has announced that the Windows version of Batman: Arkham City will be delayed to sometime in November.
No reason was given for the delay, but a staggered release for PC versions of AAA titles has become commonplace in the industry. Oftentimes the 360 or PS3 is handled as the lead platform, with the added customization settings and broad compatibility that PC gamers have come to expect taking a backseat to finishing the main product. When time is short, it’s the PC version that falls furthest behind, and that’s likely what’s happened to developer Rocksteady here.
The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Batman: Arkham City are still scheduled for a North American release on October 18. The game launches in Australia on the 19, Europe on the 21, and Japan on November 23. Additionally, a Wii U version of Arkham City will hit stores sometime in 2012.
