The latest update to Minecraft has me hooked on the game all over again thanks to the inclusion of the new adventuring system—among other things. Never ones to sit on their collective asses, Minecraft developer Mojang released a brand new screenshot of the upcoming "Nether Update", or Minecraft 1.9.
The upcoming update will contain a truckload of new features to populate Minecraft's Nether dimension, including new items, blocks, and native creatures.
According to Jens Bergensten, the developer who posted the screenshot, players will run into "a new mob that will (nearly) force you to get better upgrades. If you want to fight it, that is," hinting at the severity of the danger players will face in the nether realm. Likewise, there's a good chance that the 1.9 update will see the inclusion of a revamped armor system.
Bergensten revealed days ago on Twitter that he was hard at work on a new armor system that would offer "slightly better durability" and "simpler armor value calculation (not based on durability)". One can only surmise that the update will complement the pre-existing changes brought to the game by the recent adventure update.
