A shooter of a different sort is coming from game development team Idol Minds, one that might fill the void that Pokemon Snap left behind. Entitled Shutterbug, it's a nature photography game that allows to you snap and collect a gorgeous variety of creatures, including insects and animals, and even a fairy dragon. Points are awarded based on composition, number of subjects, distance, focus, and pose. The Colorado based studio is asking for $400,000 to reach their funding goals, with stretch goals that promise a breeding program for collected specimens, an Apple and Android version of the game, a customizable pavilion for your photographed species, and, if they reach $1,050,000, an Oculus Rift version.
The studio plans to release the game on PC and Mac for now. Funding will go towards a composer to establish the atmosphere and soundtrack, developing six locations in the game, modeling and rendering the insects and animals, and programming and implementing the remaining features. A prototype has already been built and backers in the $80 tier will have access to it to assess and offer feedback as the game progresses.
