Fallout 76 ‘Test Your Metal’ Update Gets June Release Window

April 8, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Fallout 76 will be getting a whole lot of new content this year with its ‘Test Your Metal’ update, which has been announced as having a release window sometime this June. As confirmed on the official Fallout website, the Test Your Metal update is set to release in the early summertime and promises to bring a load of new things for Appalachian wanderers to do.

Test Your Metal will be Fallout 76′s twelfth major update and will kick off the game’s Season 9 – Heart of Steel: A Dread Island Tale scoreboard challenge. Additionally, the huge new update will include some new NPCs (and therefore presumably some accompanying new story content) and three brand new public events that players can take part in:

Test Your Metal – a combat-based event in which you’ll have to face off against waves of Rust Eagles in a gladiatorial style battle at the Metal Dome.

Eviction Notice – a Super Mutant cleanup job at Foundation which awards reputation with the Settlers.

Moonshine Jamboree – an event that awards reputation with the Raiders.

Alongside the news of when we can expect to see the ‘Test Your Metal’ update coming into Fallout 76 is the news of a smaller patch arriving much sooner, on April 12th. This patch will look mainly to fix bugs and will also add some new items to the Atomic Shop.

With Test Your Metal currently being in the Public Test Server (PTS), it’s still possible to test out the new content and events for yourself if you own the game on Steam or on the Bethesda Launcher. However, it’s important to remember that the PTS won’t be on the Bethesda launcher for much longer as it’s moving to Steam later this year. As a reward for providing valuable pre-launch feedback, playtesters who take part in this latest round of gameplay on the PTS can also bag themselves a “Test Your Metal” themed pennant for their C.A.M.P.
